Wanna creative way to make some eye-catching flower sugar cookies with the kiddos? Just grab a clean pair of their kid-safe scissors and you’re set! Read on to find out what you’ll be snipping...
What you’ll need:
• 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, at room temperature
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 large egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
Start by mixing the butter and sugar on medium-high until light and fluffy. Then beat in the egg, vanilla, and salt until incorporated.
Next put your mixer on low and slowly add the flour. Mix until just combined, but careful not to overmix. Then shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
When it’s well chilled, roll cookie dough balls and cover in sprinkles.
Place on a parchment lined pan. Gorgeous.
Fun part :). Use your scissors to snip in half, about 3/4 of the way down...
And then each half into thirds.
Use your fingers to smooth the petals, and pop in the oven for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees F.
I combined my remaining sprinkles and used the rest of the dough to make cookie-shaped cookies :).
They all turned out really fun and festive!
